The "Mission OpérationnelleTransfrontalière" (MOT) is organising a European conference on “The integrated economic development of cross-border territories”, the 15th April 2014 in Paris.
The potential of cross-border economic development is insufficiently tapped by the concerned territories. The recent political and institutional evolutions have redefined the intervention of local authorities, offering them the possibility to seize this opportunity, which is determinant for their dynamism. At the European level, cross-border economic development is situated at the convergence between two priorities that the 2014-2020 programmes of the cohesion policy will have to implement: the Europe 2020 Strategy and the territorial cohesion.
In this context, the goal of the conference is to analyse the framework and the obstacles to cross-border economic development, to identify the political evolutions on this matter, and ultimately to find tools and good practices aimed at the different partners on the territories.
The MOT wishes to initiate the debate with its members and partners on the 15th April. The conference will be organized around four important parts: the potential for the economic development of the territories, the practices of cooperation, some European perspectives, and the public action for the cross-border economic development.

"Resilience in Urban and Regional Development. From Concept to Implementation"International Conference
- March 27-28, 2014
- Conference Centre Reinhardtstraßenhöfe

In contrast to sustainability, the definition of resilience relates to the ability of ecosystems to absorb shocks and disruptions and to maintain central functions in a system to the greatest possible extent even when exposed to stress.
The aim of the conference, to be held in 2014, is to position and embed the concept of resilience in the theoretical context, to define determinants of resilience, and to illustrate the various perspectives of resilience research. The operationalisation and empirical investigation of regional and urban resilience are particular focuses of interest.
